195 days. Although it feels far away, the clock is ticking, and SWISSMAN 2025 edges closer with every day. In the tension of the year-end mood, I find myself oscillating between two extremes: taking it easy, letting the year gently run its course, and already setting my sights firmly on new horizons—both personally and professionally.
The year itself will actually end with quite the bang. As of January 2025, I’ll step into a new role as Head Application and Calibration, leading the Customer Application Team. It’s a milestone I’ve been striving toward for a long time. Stepping into more responsibility has been a professional goal I’ve quietly nurtured. The lack of such opportunities in my former job was one of the big reasons for making a change, and I couldn’t be more excited about this chance.
At the same time, I’d be lying if I said there isn’t a touch of overwhelm bubbling beneath the surface. I know I’ll be up to the task, but the weight of something new and significant is always humbling.
Interestingly, these feelings of excitement and apprehension also reflect my preparation for SWISSMAN. It’s a mountain I’ve tried to conquer before, and while my passion burns as bright as ever, a whisper of doubt lingers. Will I be up to the task this time?
One thing is certain: I’m starting early. My first swim since the last SWISSMAN was this week—a short but symbolic journey from the island of Brissago to Ascona. Testing new swimming goggles and easing back into the water felt oddly reassuring. It’s a small step, but every stroke matters on this journey.
As 2024 draws to a close, I can’t help but reflect on what a year it’s been. It’s a strange mix of endings and beginnings, of taking stock and gearing up. And while 2025 promises new challenges—both in the office and on the trail—I can’t wait to see what I’ll achieve.
For now, though, there’s time to soak in the holiday spirit, share some laughs with loved ones, and recharge. Because when the new year begins, it’s go time. Here’s to the adventures ahead, the peaks to climb, and the moments of joy we’ll carve out along the way. Let’s make it a good one.
See you in the water—or the mountains. 😉
